Agriculture, forestry, seafood exports hit over USD16.9 billion

Export turnover of agricultural, forestry and seafood products in July reached an estimated USD2.47 billion, bringing the total figure for the first seven months of the year to USD16.93 billion, a year-on-year reduction of 3.6%.

Agriculture, forestry, seafood exports hit over USD16.9 billion

Of this figure, exports of major agricultural product fetched USD8.2 billion, down 5.7% with the sharpest reduction in coffee, rubber and rice. Specifically, the export volume of coffee in the first seven months, posted 792,000 tonnes, valued at USD1.63 billion, a 33.9% decrease in volume and a 33.7% decline in value.

For the main commodity, rice, export volume over the past seven months was estimated at 3.72 million tonnes, worth USD1.59 billion, down 3.1% in volume and 8.3% in value over a year earlier.

Sharing the same difficulties as major agricultural products with a reduction of 17%, seafood exports amounted to USD3.53 billion. The US was still the biggest importer of Vietnam’s seafood, making up 19.2% of the country’s total.

Meanwhile, forestry products still maintained stable growth of 8.3% at USD3.7 billion in the seven months. The US, Japan and China were the three biggest export markets of Vietnam’s forestry in the first half, making up 66.3% of the country’s total./.
