Candles lit to mark 160th anniversary of anti-French resistance in Da Nang

Candles lit at Nghia Trung Hoa Vang national cemetery to mark the 160^th anniversary of anti-French resistance in Da Nang

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien, leaders of Da Nang city, and numerous young people.

Candles were lit beside the headstones of heroes, partisans, and patriots who laid down their lives during the anti-French resistance war, in commemoration of their services to the country.

Addressing the function, Vice Chairman of Da Nang city People’s Committee Dang Viet Dung called on participants to promote the patriotic tradition of predecessors in safeguarding and developing the country.

Located in Khue Trung ward, Cam Le district, Nghia Trung Hoa Vang cemetery is the resting place of more than 1,000 combatants and patriots who sacrificed their lives between 1858 and 1860 during the early period of the anti-French resistance war.

It was recognised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national historical site in 1999./.
