CBU car imports surge in May
(VNF) – Volume of imported CBU (completely built unit) autos in May reached over 10,700, valued at USD327 million, up 7.9% in volume and up 11.2% in value over a year earlier, according to statistics by the General Department of Customs.
With this, the total figure in the first five months this year was 47,500 units, worth USD1.2 billion in volume and 183.2% in value against the same period last year.

The five-month volume comprised of 15,800 autos of less than nine seats, surging 74.6% year-on-year. Truck imports jumped 87.7% to 17,200 units while other vehicles took a nearly six-fold increase to 12.700 units.
The main auto providers to Vietnam in the five months were China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand and India.
CBU autos volume from China increased considerably in the five months at 295% to 13,400 units. Following it were the Republic of Korea (9,780 units, up 51.4%), Thailand (8,300 units, up 133%), India (6,600 units, up 134%) and Japan (2,700 units, up 117%)./.
