(VNF) - The international scientific conference aiming to develop the theories of value education and the construction of value system in the context of international integration took place on July 4th, in Hanoi.

The event, themed “Value education in the context of international integration”, was jointly organised by the Academy of Journalism and Communication under the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Institute of Philosophy under Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Council for Research in Values and Philosophy and Catholic University of America.

The conference created a scientific forum for dialogue, exchange and proposal of solutions for building a global value system for peace and cooperation among countries and people in the world.

Prof, Dr. Truong Ngoc Nam, Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, spoke in his opening speech “Building the socialist-oriented market economy in the context of integration and globalization today, we are facing both opportunities and risks. Current situation (from inpidual values to family and social community values, from ethics, lifestyle, ideals, social responsibility, people relationship) is so complicated.”

Therefore, it is necessary to build up a standard national value system for Vietnamese people and implement value education for people, especially young generation, in order to achieve the objective of the prosperous people, strong country with democracy, fairness and civilization, he stressed.

The organising committee received more than 70 representations by scientists, managers and journalists from universities, research institutes and media organisations locally and internationally.

The presentations focused clarifying basic and important issues of value and value systems, factors affecting choices of value in the context of integration, changing trend of value, requirements, methods and content of value education in the current period.

Scholars also shared many insightful comments on the impact of media on the formation and development of value systems, the role of media in value education, experiences of some countries worldwide and Vietnam in value education. Based on knowledge, experience and effective models of value education, they also suggested and proposed solutions to enhance the effectiveness of value education in the context of integration./.
