The northern province of Dien Bien is striving to increase the quality of its agricultural products by investing in and expanding the area of crops such as rice, rubber, coffee and tea.

In addition, the province will also increase the application of science and technology in production, in connection with the processing, preservation and consumption of products, while promoting the trademark of agricultural products.

Specifically, focus will be put on caring for the existing area of rubber trees, accelerating the building of the rubber latex processing factory; expanding well grown coffee area and re-planting or planting another variety of trees in poorly grown areas, paying attention to processing and consuming coffee products, striving to developing a coffee area of 4,900 hectares and producing 10,708 tons of kernel coffee by 2020.

In addition, the province will concentrate on developing the area of food plantation, increasing links in production, connecting production with the processing of products, increase trade promotion and expanding markets.

Localities plan to protect land and water resources, replace insufficient rice production areas with long-term industrial tree areas, expand rice production to protect the trademark “Dien Bien rice”, and re-organise rice fields to make them larger for higher quality production./.
