According to the Quang Ngai provincial steering committee for natural disaster prevention, search and rescue, the fishing boat coded QNg 95438 TS, captained by Le Thanh Dieu, a 36-year-old local from Binh Son district’s Binh Chanh commune, sank at around 9pm on Thursday.

Immediately after the incident, the boat sent an SOS signal and informed the other fishing boats nearby. As of 9.30am today, three local fishing boats, coded QNa 94097 TS, QNa 94545 TS and QNa 94646 TS, successfully rescued all of the 31 crew members aboard QNg 95438 TS.

As reported by the Quang Ngai provincial Border Guard Command, all of the rescued fishermen have been taken to An Bang island, with their health remaining fragile.

The Quang Ngai provincial steering committee asked the National Committee on Incident, Disaster Response and Search and Rescue to create favourable conditions for the QNg 95438 TS crew members to reside in An Bang Island to improve their health, while taking measures to support the fishermen to promptly get ashore and reunite with their families./.
