Get-together marks 63rd anniversary of Cambodia’s National Day

(VNF) - Cambodia Friendship Association (VCFA) on November 9th hosted a get-together at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy to celebrate the 63rd National Day of Cambodia (November 9th, 1953-2016).

Attending the event were VCFA Chairman Vu Mao, Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Park Nguon Hong, Rector of the Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hoang Nang Trong, Vietnamese and Cambodia officials as well as students of university.

At the gather, delegates have recalled the achievements in political stability, developing the economy and improving people’s standard of living recorded by the Cambodian people in recent years.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Vu Mao hailed the achievements Cambodia has made over the past decades.

Regarding the two countries’ relations, Mr. Mao said that with the motto, “Friendly neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive co-operation, long-term sustainability”, Vietnam – Cambodia solidarity, friendship and co-operation have developed in all fields, both in width and depth with regular exchanges of the two countries’ high-ranking leaders.

Chairman Mao added that the two countries have attached importance to promoting co-operation in many fields to contribute to strengthening and developing the traditional friendly neighbourliness and comprehensive co-operation between the two countries.

He expressed the wish for constant development of Vietnam-Cambodia relations, adding that in 2017, the two countries will organize many exchange activities between the two friendship associations of the two countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam - Cambodia (June 24th, 1967-2017).

Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Park Nguon Hong praised VCFA for organizing such event on the occasion of the 63rd anniversary of Cambodia’s National Day at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

He spoke highly of contributions by the VCFA to the strengthening of Cambodia-Vietnam relations. “We are committed to do our best to help develop and deepen the traditional ties binding Cambodia and Vietnam”, he emphasized.

The diplomat said he believes that thanks to their traditional friendship and solidarity, creativeness and dynamism as well as the leadership of both leaders, their traditional friendship, comprehensive co-operation and long-lasting stability will be raised.

According to Hoang Nang Trong, Rector of the Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, over nearly half a century, the university has trained 426 physicians for Cambodia. Up to now, the university has 184 Cambodian students studying general practitioner specialty training program, which in the academic year 2016 - 2017 the university received 26 students, and 49 post-graduate students. The university has organized teaching Vietnamese for Cambodian newly-enrolled students and compiled the Vietnamese - English - Khmer Vocabulary help students raising the level of Vietnamese.

On the occasion, VCFA Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Hung and Phuong Hoang International Travel Development Joint Venture Company (Bac Ninh province) presented USD 10,000 to Cambodian excellent students who study at Thai Binh University of Medicine and Pharmacy./.
