HCM City calls for OVs’ support in helping domestic firms to speed up EVFTA approval

The Ho Chi Minh City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs has held a conference on promoting overseas human resources to support HCM City’s enterprises to participate the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

Attending at the event were Permanent Vice Chairman of the HCM City People's Committee Le Thanh Liem and more than 100 Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) and businesses of HCM City.

Speaking at the event, the leader of the municipal People's Committee reviewed economic achievements of the city due to the contribution of OVs from around the world.

The EVFTA creates opportunity for local businesses to speed up their export to gain further access to the market of European Union member countries.

The city’s governemnt hoped that OVs will share their experiences, creativity and provide appropriate business policies to help local enterprises to tap opportunities from EVFTA, he said.

Vice Chairman Liem aslo asked relevant departments to study the content of trade agreement to apply it terms to get the most effective way in boosting trading activities.
