Ho Chi Minh city to become Southeast Asia’s large centre

The 6^th meeting of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee opened on June 22^nd to discuss the committee’s action plan in realization of the 12^th National Party Congress and the city’s 10^th Congress resolutions, which aim to make the city promptly become a large economic, financial, commercial, scientific and technological centre in Southeast Asia.

Addressing the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the city Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang urged delegates to seek breakthrough solutions to measures set in the draft action plan, in order to build up a modern and advanced city, promote the strength of the whole political system and the national great solidarity to maintain defence and security stability, as well as political and social stability, and promote the building of the city Party Committee.

According to the city’s action plan, the city will focus on carrying out 11 missions and solutions to realize the 12^th National Party Congress resolution, including improving the investment environment, increasing the quality of growth and the competitiveness of the economy, contributing to completing the socialist-oriented market economy; constructing synchronous infrastructure, promoting sustainable urban development, protecting the environment and coping with climate change; carrying out educational and training reform in combination with increasing the quality of human resources; and strongly boosting scientific and technological applications as a foundation for rapid development in socio-economic areas.

The city will also boost medical, sports and cultural development; ensure social welfare; maintain social and political stability; reinforce defence and security; increase the efficiency of external activities; and promote the strength of national great unity, further connecting authorities with people.

In addition, the city will also increase the efficiency of State management, push up administrative reform, enhance the prevention of corruption and waste, contributing to the building of socialist law-governed State; and build up a pure and strong Party Committee, increase the Party leadership and combativeness, as well as the quality of cadres and Party members./.
