Honoring 13 outstanding coaches and athletes from public security sector
(VNF) - The Ministry of Public Security hosted a ceremony in Hanoi on January 25th to honor 13 outstanding coaches and athletes in 2015.

Lieutenant General Le Van De, Deputy Head of the General Department of Politics under the Vietnam People’s Police, and Mr Pham Van Tuan, Deputy Head of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, attended the event.

The Public Security Sports and Physical Competition and Training Center received a certificate of merit from the Ministry.

Besides, the General Department of Politics under the Ministry of Public Security also awarded certificates of merit to 78 coaches and athletes.

In 2015, athletes from the public security sector gained 179 gold, 175 silver, and 255 bronze medals, including 16 gold, 20 silver and 34 bronze medals from international tours.

At the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, they actively contributed to Vietnam’s medal tally.

The sector inked a cooperation agreement with the Russian Martial Arts Federation to develop combined martial arts, and sent delegations to practice professional skills in China, the Republic of Korea, Thailand and Japan.

Domestically, the Public Security Sports and Physical Competition and Training Centre and relevant agencies organized applied martial arts courses for ready-for-action/combat units and under-central public security units.

According to Colonel Nguyen Hien Luong, Head of the Public Security Sports and Physical Competition and Training Center, in 2016, apart from training in preparation for SEA Games 29 (2017) and ASIAD 18 (2018), the Center focuses on athletics, shooting, and martial arts disciplines to foster the skill and spirit, as well as combat readiness, of soldiers in the new context./.
