Independence Day of Pakistan celebrated in Hanoi
The 72nd Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated on August 14 in Hanoi by the Embassy of Pakistan and members of the Pakistani community living in Vietnam.
The event consisted of a flag-hoisting ceremony, speech made by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Vietnam and a celebration party.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador of Pakistan to Viet Nam & Laos, Zaigham Uddin Azam highlighted importance of the Independence Day of Pakistan and mentioned the valiant struggle that led to the creation of Pakistan. The Ambassador also underscored that the new government of Pakistan was geared to make Pakistan a progressive and social welfare state, as it was envisioned by the Quaid-e-Azam.
Furthermore, Ambassador Azam briefed the members of the community on the current state of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Vietnam, which are on a positive trajectory. He underscored that during the last four years, bilateral trade of Pakistan and Viet Nam has more than doubled to reach the mark of $728 million. However, he said, the Government of Pakistan is working hard to take the bilateral trade to $1 billion by 2020./.
