Japanese man earns tens of millions of dollars by selling pizza in Vietnam
Mr. Yosuke Masuko, owner of the 4Ps pizza chain, works 13 hours a day. For him, there are always challenges in doing business in Vietnam, but he and his wife are happy to be working here.
In 2011, the Yosuke and Sunny Masuko families arrived in Ho Chi Minh City after quitting their jobs at a large investment fund. Yosuke and Sunny - hobbyists living abroad - both expected to have a right job in the new land. During the first few months in Vietnam, the Masuko family usually invited friends to come to their house on weekends and make pizza in the back garden. Their startup inspiration came from here as well.
In 2011, the family's first pizza store named Pizza 4Ps opened with 10 employees. Most materials were imported from abroad. The initial capital of the couple was $ 100,000, taken from family savings.
Six years later, they have six stores in Saigon, Da Nang and Hanoi, with 700 employees. Homemade cheese, organic vegetables imported in Vietnam.
Initially, 90% of customers to 4Ps pizza were Japanese, 5% were foreigners and only 5% were Vietnamese. Now, 70% of customers are indigenous.
Yosuke Masuko says he often wakes up at 6am, then feeds his daughter, helping her homework and takes her to the school bus stop. After that, Yosuke Masuko takes time to meditate. He went to quiet places, under the shade of trees in the park near the house to meditate. Then Yosuke comes to the company with his wife.
Yosuke Masuko spends 13 hours a day for work, that is, from morning to late night. "I consider work above all," said Yosuke Masuko.
The couple's store chain turnover reached USD 7.5 million in 2016. They set a target of USD 15 million by 2017, and soon hit USD 100 million by 2020./.
