Many representatives of the diplomatic corps attend Azerbaijan National Day in Hanoi

(VNF) - Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Vietnam hold a ceremony to mark Azerbaijan 99^th National Day (May 28^th, 1918-2017) and 25^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam (September 23^rd, 1992-2017) on March 24^th in Hanoi.

The event was attended by Deputy Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vu Hong Nam, the representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Vietnam, members of Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Association, international friends and graduates of Azerbaijan universities.

In his opening speech Mr. Anar Imanov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Vietnam talked about the history and development of the Republic of Azerbaijan, adding that after restoration of the state independence, the country has become modern, strong and rapidly developing country and Azerbaijan implements numerous large scale projects in the South Caucasus region.

Ambassador stressed that despite of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992, friendship relations between Azerbaijani and Vietnamese people have long-standing history.

He also highlighted development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries over the last years, as well as boosting the inter-parliamentary ties and emphasized that the state visit of Azerbaijan President to Vietnam in 2014 and official visit of Vietnamese President to Azerbaijan in 2015 raised the content and scope of bilaterial relations between the two countries.

Besides the high level visits, the establishment of Friendship Groups at the Parliaments of the both countries, Azerbaijan – Vietnam Intergovernmental Commission on economic, trade, scientific and technical cooperation, Vietnam-Azerbaijan Friendship Organisation, Center for Azerbaijani History and Culture Studies contributed to the development of bilateral cooperation between two people.

People-to-people relations, dialogue and exchange of visits play a pivotal role in further cementing friendly relations between our countries.

“The bilateral relations have historical roots and this has been founded by the visit of first president of Vietnam Ho Chi Minh to Azerbaijan on 1959 and visit of the founder of modern Azerbaijan state Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam on 1983 as First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the USSR. Vietnamese people will never forget Azerbaijani support to Vietnam during the long-lasting wars,” he recalled.

The Foreign Deputy Minister remains more than reassured that two countries’ mutually beneficial cooperation would continue to grow for the benefit of two countries and peoples through leaders’ determinations and joint efforts./.
