Meeting marks 98th Romania’s National Day in Hanoi
(VNF) - The Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association (VRFA) and the Embassy of Romania in Vietnam held a ceremony to mark the 98th National Day of Romania (December 1st, 1918-2016) and the 25th founding anniversary of the association in Hanoi on November 27th.
The event was attended by Mr. Tong Van Nga, VRFA Chairman; Ms. Pham Thi Thai, Head of Europe Department of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO); members of the VRFA; representatives from the Vietnamese Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and representatives of Vietnamese entrepreneurs working with Romania.
On the Romanian side, Mr. Valeriu Arteni, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam and representatives of the Embassy of Romania in Vietnam and Romanian entrepreneurs also attended the event.
Addressing the event, VRFA Chairman Tong Van Nga congratulated Romania on the great achievements the country has made during the struggle for national independence as well as in the current socio-economic development.

In 2016, Romania’s GDP growth reached five per cent, the highest level in the European Union, and its per capita income hit USD 20,000 per year.
He said that the traditional friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Romania are based on mutual respect and understanding. Since Vietnam and Romania established diplomatic ties in 1950, the Romanian people have provided great support and valuable assistance for Vietnam in the past struggles for national independence and the current national construction.
Romania has trained more than 3,500 Vietnamese students and post-graduates who greatly contribute to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, culture, education and diplomacy. Besides the training of the Vietnamese specialists in Romania, numerous Romanian specialists participated in Vietnam and approximately1,000 Vietnamese workers were sent to Romania to work.
Since its establishment in November 9th, 1991, the VRFA has been running a number of events to promote the multi-faceted relations between the two countries such as economics, culture, and science-technology, said VRFA Chairman Nga.

According to Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Valerriu Arterni, the traditional friendship between Romania and Vietnam has contributed to the ties between the EU and Vietnam. The fact that Romania is a member of the European Union and Vietnam is a member of ASEAN creates favourable conditions for the development and persification of the economic co-operation between the two countries, both in the bilateral and regional frameworks.
The ambassador took note of bilateral cooperation programmes in various fields from judiciary, education and science-technology to broadcasting since the two countries established diplomatic ties 66 years ago.
Ambassador Arterni hailed VRFA’s role as a bridge for the two countries’ enterprises to meet and enhance business and investment collaboration, the diplomat said.
The association has regularly organised people-to-people exchange activities and arranged visits by Vietnamese alumni in Romania to their former schools, he added.
He expressed his confidence in the fine relations between the two nations, particularly in politics, economics, culture and education for the sake of their people.

On this occasion, a poetry book named "Romania: Love and Nostalgia" which contains the most important historical moments of the 25th establishment of the VRFA as well as poems about love for Romania and its people of VRFA's members and a Special Issue on Vietnam-Romania Friendship are published./.
