Mekong River Delta receives VND927 billion for social welfare work
The Mekong Delta Economic Cooperation Forum (MDEC), which came to a close several days ago, mobilised VND927 billion to build schools, medical stations, houses of gratitude and offer scholarships to disadvantaged pupils.

Those who made remarkable contributions to the social welfare fund for the region included Hanoi (VND19 billion), Ho Chi Minh city (VND13 billion), and the banking sector (VND257 billion).
Through the forum, localities in the region increased cooperation to attract investment, boost trade and tourism promotion, improve investment environment, and create favourable conditions for investors.
The forum also discussed suggestions and proposals towards the Government, the Prime Minister and ministries on tackling obstacles in credit, production, business, the improvement of the investment environment, and the consumption of products.
According to the organising committee, being held 9 times, the MDEC has built up a prestigious image for the Mekong River Delta, putting forth practical issues for the region and successfully collecting initiatives for development policies and for the introduction of the region’s potential and strengths.
As planned, MDEC 2018 will be held in Bac Lieu province./.
