Nghe An province prays for people who died of HIV/AIDS

In response to the World AIDS Day on December 1st, the alliance of self-reliant groups in Nghe An province in collaboration with the provincial Center for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, Hung Nguyen district youth union and Hung Thinh commune youth union organized a program to pray for people who died from the disease.

In response to the World AIDS Day on December 1st, the alliance of self-reliant groups in Nghe An province in collaboration with the provincial Center for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, Hung Nguyen district youth union and Hung Thinh commune youth union organized a program to pray for people who died from the disease.

The program was held with the aim of raising awareness of people about the prevention of HIV/AIDS infection, contributing to reducing the stigma and discrimination against people with HIV and vulnerable people in Nghe An province as well as attracting interest and support of local mass organizations for HIV/AIDS prevention and control.

A local man from Hung Nguyen district’s Hung Thinh commune, Nghe An province is one of people infected with HIV, shared that he has been infected with HIV for many years, but luckily he has been provided with antiretroviral (ARV) medicines so his health is still good.

He also advised people living with HIV to regularly go to health centers to be examined and get ARVs. Those who have not been infected with HIV should live healthily.

Joining the program, the participants were provided basic knowledge about HIV/AIDS as well as measures to prevent infection and how to treat the disease.

During the program, the organizers and local people lit candles and prayed for people who had died of HIV/AIDS.

In addition, the organizers also presented 20 gifts to 20 families in difficult circumstance and have contributed positively to the campaign for HIV/AIDS prevention and control./.
