Nine localities receive Government assistance to protect and develop rice production

The Prime Minister has decided to give assistance worth nearly VND471 billion to 9 localities to affect the policy for protecting and developing rice areas.

Accordingly, the assistance will be distributed to Bac Ninh province (VND13.75 billion), Thanh Hoa province (VND64.792 billion), Da Nang city (VND1.093 billion), Quang Ngai province (VND14.905 billion), Tay Ninh province (VND25.486 billion), Vinh Long province (VND35.6 billion), Hau Giang province (VND41.194 billion), Dong Thap province (VND113.067 billion), and Kien Giang province (VND160.993 billion).

Urban development and the provision of new infrastructure have led to a rapid reduction in the area of cultivated land. Therefore, the investment to renew rice production areas needs immediate attention.

To protect and develop the rice production areas, the Government has recently issued a decree on the effective management and use of rice production areas, with support for localities to plant rice across the country. Accordingly, the State will assist each hectare of water rice production with VND1 million each year and VND500,000 each year for other kind of rice production.

For the area of upgraded land for rice production, the State budget will put aside VND10 million for each hectare./.
