Over USD9 million spent preventing child labour
On May 23rd, the Ministry of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) announced a project providing technical support for the national effort on preventing and minimising child labour in Vietnam.

Accordingly, the project will be carried out with capital of USD9.2 million, including USD8 million funded by the United States Department of Labour through ILO and USD1.2 million from the Government of Vietnam,
Under the project, the prevention of child labour will be conducted in the textile and garment and handicraft sectors in Ho Chi Minh city, agricultural and fisheries sectors in An Giang province, and handicraft sector in Hanoi.
Under the project, some 5,000 children in danger of or now participating in child labour will be supported by being provided with educational services or improvement of working conditions, applied for children old enough to work under legal regulations.
In addition, some 2,000 disadvantaged families whose children are in danger of becoming child labourers or are participating in child labour will be assisted to improve their livelihood./.
