Phu Yen gives land and farming tools to thousands of poor families
The central province of Phu Yen has allocated VND11 billion to give production land and farming tool assistance to over 1,000 poor families in 7 districts and Song Cau town, in an attempt to help them boost domestic economic development and stabilise their lives.

The attempt aims to realise social welfare Decision 755/QD-TTg issued in 2013 by the Prime Minister on assisting production for poor families, especially poor ethnic minority, in extremely disadvantaged villages.
According to the Phu Yen provincial People’s Committee, from 2009 to 2015, over 3,800 families in the province were assisted with hundreds of hectares of production land, farming tools and loans with a total capital of VND13.6 billion. As a result, poor families in mountainous areas, especially those who lack production land, gained access to conditions for economic development.
In some other areas where there is no fallow land left for assignment, local authorities provided preferential loans worth VND15-30 million for each family so that they can upgrade land for themselves to plant sugarcane, cassava and rice; increase agricultural productivity; raise their income; produce enough food; and boost economic development.
Meanwhile, poor families in another places were allowed to hire land at the preferential price of VND80,000-120,000 per 1,000 square metres for production./.
