Accordingly, MAG will establish 15 teams and 6 supporting teams to disarm UXOs across the province.

During the implementation of the project, MAG will support and create conditions to develop communities by dealing with UXOs, increase the management of collected information, and raise the awareness of local residents and tourists on issues relating to bombs, mines and UXOs.

The project will be implemented based on the success of previous projects by MAG in Quang Tri province, including the projects on restoring the environment, disarming bombs, mines and UXOs and any necessary resettlement as a result of the danger posed by them.

Mr. Mai Thuc, Vice Chairman of the Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee, praised the cooperation of MAG in implementing UXO clearance projects over the past time, saying that he hoped for further cooperation to bring more safe land for residents’ production, thus boosting local socio-economic development.

In recent years, Quang Tri province has disarmed bombs and mines across 8,399 hectares of land, safely destroyed 556,448 explosives. At present, some 80% of land still suffers from serious consequences left by the wars./.
