Regional policy dialogue on technical/vocational education and training personnel
(VNF) - The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the ASEAN Secretariat and the Vietnamese Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) on April 22nd co-hosted a two-day workshop titled “Regional policy dialogue on TVET personnel” in Hanoi.
The workshop is facilitated by the new program “Regional cooperation program to improve the training of TVET personnel” – RECOTVET, to encourage and strengthen regional harmonisation and quality improvement of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in South East Asia.
The RECOTVET regional policy dialogue targets senior officials from Education and Labour Ministries of ASEAN member states as well as relevant regional stakeholder from the ASEAN Secretariat, SEAMEO, UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, the Regional Cooperation Platform on Teacher Education in South East Asia and actors from the German development cooperation, including TVET-experts from Germany.
The meeting aims at: promoting expert exchange between relevant bilateral and regional partners with actors from the German development cooperation and thereby lays the foundation for future cooperation; and building the basis for technical dialogue and working groups on topics regarding TVET personnel and agreeing on future milestones and next steps
Constant harmonisation efforts are crucial and require new and innovative formats for regional exchange, collaboration and knowledge sharing on the road towards further integration within the ASEAN region.
The event offers the opportunity to participate in a new format for intensified exchange and discussions on challenges and opportunities for TVET personnel. It is only the first of a series of regional events on TVET in which RECOTVET either contributes to or facilitates./.
