Six communes in Da Nang city realize program on building new style rural areas

So far 6 of 11 communes in the central city of Da Nang have realised all criteria on building new style rural areas, with the remaining 5 communes to reach the program’s standard by the end of this year, the Da Nang city People’s Committee has reported.

According to the city People’s Committee, throughout the 3 years of realization of the city’s decree on increasing leadership and implementation of the program, the city has upgraded 40 trans-communal traffic construction, 34 kilometres of village roads, 9.7 kilometres of interior fields, 18 bridges, 32 irrigation works, and 80 schools.

In addition, the city has installed the wireless internet systems for 11 communes, supported the building and repairing of houses for 1,445 beneficiaries’ and poor families as well as 3,026 restroom constructions.

As of late 2014, all the communes met the standards in relation to traffic, irrigation, power and post office systems, while 10 communes reached the standard for rural markets and residents’ houses, 8 communes realised the criterion on schooling and 6 communes on cultural facilities.

Moreover, over 70 different production models have been applied, bringing greater efficiency, output and income for farmers, including the planting flowers, mushrooms, blue dragon fruits and vegetables with the application of high technologies. Seedling production, large-scale field, aquaculture and grass planting for cows models have also proved their efficiency.

Through effective programs and projects, the average income per capita in the city has reached VND24.68 million per year, lowering the poverty rate from 16.52% in 2012 to 4.35% in 2014.

Along with the support from the State, people have contributed over VND342 billion towards building rural roads, cultural houses, restrooms and invest in construction to assist production.

The city People’s Committee says in 2015, the city will continue to maintain and increase the quality of criteria across 6 communes that reach the standard, raise people’s income by at least 15%, and focus on protecting the environment./.
