Some 410,000 labourers in Mekong River delta to get jobs

(VNF) – Statistics by the southwestern steering committee showed that in January, the Mekong River delta region created jobs for 34,000 labourers, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%.

According to Nguyen Phong Quang, deputy chairman of the committee, from now until the end of this year, the region will strive to create jobs for 376,000 labourers, raising the number of labourers who get jobs to 410,000, an increase of 5.6% compared to 2014.

To realise the target, the region plans to carry out economic restructuring in the industrial, commercial and agricultural sectors, with an increase of quality and value in combination with job creation.

The region will create conditions for the establishment of 14,000 industrial and commercial production foundations with an emphasis on industrial zones, aiming to attract 205,000 labourers.

In addition, the region will carry out over 11,000 small projects to give jobs to over 100,000 labourers.

In this drive, 800,000 hectares of water surface will be put into use for aquaculture and 4.5 hectares of land for rice and fruit production, attracting over 105,000 rural labourers. Moreover, an additional 5,000 labourers will be provided jobs as a result of an expansion in medical, educational and other social foundations.

Localities in the region also plan to upgrade the facilities and equipment for 369 vocational training foundations to satisfy the recruitment for enterprises working in the agricultural product processing, food, aquaculture, breeding, veterinary, motorbike and automobile repairing sectors.

Enterprises are also encouraged to join vocational training programmes by enjoying tax reduction for fees relating to vocational training./.

In 2014, the region provided jobs for 387,000 labourers, an increase of 14.7% compared to 2013./.
