State President pledges to do utmost to serve nation and people
Politburo member and State President Tran Dai Quang said on May 9th that he considered the nation’s and people’s interests prime interests, and that he would do his utmost to realise his tasks as National Assembly deputy if selected.
He made the statements when meeting with voters in districts 1, 3 and 4 of Ho Chi Minh city, as a candidate for deputy to the 14th National Assembly election.
Presenting his action plan, State President Tran Dai Quang said that it was his honour to be a candidate for NA deputy in Ho Chi Minh city – the nation's biggest urban area that holds a special important role in economic, cultural, scientific, technological, external, security and defence areas.
He committed to make his greatest efforts to realise the consistent foreign policies of self-reliance, peace, cooperation and development during the process of international integration, ensuring the prime interests of the nation, maintaining the peaceful and stable environment for national development and for raising people’s spiritual and material lives.
He also pledged to build up the armed forces able to firmly protect the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation.
During the meeting, voters showed their confidence that each NA deputy candidate would keep their promises if selected.
They added that they hoped NA deputies would address people’s fears, including robbery, unsafe food and traffic accidents.
Addressing voters’ concern over the East Sea issues, the State leader said that national sovereignty is inviolable, and that the country will consistently protect its sovereignty using political and diplomatic measures in accordance with international law, while building up strong armed forces to protect the people and nation./.
