Student win startup competition with the project of raising catfish using herb

A student of Vinh Long Technical Education University has invented a model of raising pangasius using herbs, helping farmers generate sustainable economic value.

This project has brought Phan Tan Khai, student of the School of Food Technology, Vinh Long Technical Education University the third prize in the Startup competition for students 2018 organized by the Ministry of Education and Training recently. Khai is also the only contestant in the Mekong Delta region to win the prize.

According to the representative of Vinh Long University of Technical Education, herbal catfish farming is a new and breakthrough approach of breeding. It can help pangasius grow well and healthier, reduce diseases and increase resilience to environmental changes.

At the same time, the selling time will be shortened from 5-7 days compared to traditional pangasius raising model. With this type of breeding, residues of antibiotics, veterinary drugs will be minimized./.
