The proposal was made by the Ministry of Education and Training.

Under the government’s newly-issued resolution, students in remote and disadvantaged areas will get support for tuition fees when they study at non-state schools.

The Ministry of Education and Training has also been tasked with the upgrading and installation of toilets and clean water supply for schools at the beginning of the new school year in remote areas.

At present, only primary school students are exempted from tuition fees. So, the government’s resolution on the tuition fee exemption for pre-school children aged five and secondary school children are aimed to encourage more children, particularly those in disadvantaged and remote areas, to go to school.

Around, around five million Vietnamese pupils should benefit from this resolution.

The government has also requested tighter control over the national high school graduation exams to avoid cases such as the recent falsifying of test results in the national high school exams in some provinces./.
