The VFF leader made the remark at a conference held in Ho Chi Minh City on February 24th.
He said that it was the first time the VFF had coordinated with the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) to host such a conference, which aimed to honour 20 outstanding religious collectives and 27 inpiduals that have fully participated in social protection activities and vocational training.
He expressed his hope that the religious organisations would continue working closely with the VFF and MOLISA to develop social activities and vocational training.
Nearly VND 15 trillion (USD 660 million) is allocated from the State budget every year to support 2.7 million social protection beneficiaries.
A total of 113 facilities were established by religious organisations and have been operating in line with the law’s regulations to care for nearly 12,000 social protection beneficiaries, including orphans, abandoned children, children with disabilities and homeless elders.
Religious organisations are also running 12 vocational training centres and facilities, which have provided training for thousands of workers every year./.
