Vietnam Airlines increases 800 flights for 2016 traditional lunar new year

(VNF) - During the 2016 traditional lunar new year holidays between January 26th - February 24th, 2016 (December 17th of the lunar calendar Year of the Goat to January 17th of the Year of the Monkey), Vietnam Airlines has planned to increase flights to meet the increased travel demand of passengers returning home to reunite with their families.

(VNF) - During the 2016 traditional lunar new year holidays between January 26th - February 24th, 2016 (December 17th of the lunar calendar Year of the Goat to January 17th of the Year of the Monkey), Vietnam Airlines has planned to increase flights to meet the increased travel demand of passengers returning home to reunite with their families.

Accordingly, the Vietnam national flag carrier is adding a total of 800 one-way flights on both domestic and international routes, equivalent to 136,000 seats on 22 routes. It means that Vietnam Airlines will offer about 2.1 million seats during the peak period, a 7% increase over the normal schedule and up 18% compared with the previous year.

Additional flights cover 15 domestic routes and seven international routes, including Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh city/Nha Trang/Phu Quoc/Pleiku/Da Nang/Dong Hoi; Ho Chi Minh city-Da Nang/Hai Phong/Vinh/Hue/Nha Trang/Phu Quoc/ Buon Me Thuot, Pleiku/Dong Hoi; Can Tho-Taipei/Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Ho Chi Minh city-Taipei/Kaohsiung (Taiwan)/Hong Kong/Fukuoka/Osaka (Japan).

Some major routes are:

Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh city: adds around 192 flights, using Boeing 787, Boeing 777, Airbus A350, Airbus A330 and Airbus A321

Ho Chi Minh city-Da Nang: adds around 90 flights, using Airbus A321

Ho Chi Minh city-Phu Quoc/Hue: adds around 90 flights, using Airbus A321 and ATR-72

Passengers should note the scheduled departure time, seat number, flight number and the relevant procedures (if any) to be transferred to alternative flights. Vietnam Airlines also requests passengers to check in three hours in advance for international flights and one hour in advance for domestic flights, in order to decrease traffic jams routed to and from the airport.

Online procedures like web check-in, mobile check-in and kiosk check-in are preferred at Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat and Da Nang international airports.
