Outstanding results in pandemic prevention and implementation of socio-economic development tasks in 2021 were summarized at an online conference with localities on the morning of January 5.
Setting up 700 mobile clinics, mobilizing large forces to fight the Covid-19
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh shared that 2021 is the second year the world has to fight and struggle with the Covid-19 pandemic. The world economy shows signs of recovery but is not stable, especially when the pandemic wave with the Delta mutation and recently the Omicron strain spreads quickly. This strain also quickly penetrated Vietnam.
Despite facing unprecedented challenges nationwide when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the PM affirmed that specific tasks on economic and social development are guaranteed.

The Prime Minister said that this conference will evaluate the results of the implementation of political tasks in 2021, affirming advantages and pointing out weaknesses. At the same time, the conference aims to propose solutions to overcome and develop development plans in the context of many difficulties and challenges ahead.
Reporting on the implementation of the Socio-Economic Development Plan for 2021 and the direction of the 2022 tasks, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said that last year, the Government has drastically implemented a safe and flexible response roadmap, effectively control the Covid-19 pandemic; accelerate the speed of vaccination against Covid-19. Potential growth slowdown
Regarding the vaccine strategy, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said that Vietnam from a country with a very low vaccination rate has become one of the six countries with the highest vaccine coverage rate in the world.
“Up to now, the rate of vaccine coverage for people aged 18 years and over is 99.6%, 2 doses is 90.9%; For people aged 12 to 17, the rate of one dose is 85.6%, 2 doses is 57%,” said the Deputy Prime Minister, adding that the Government is ordering vaccines for children from 5 to 11 years old.
Regarding the economy, the Government has removed difficulties, promoted production and business in association with ensuring macroeconomic stability and major balances of the economy. Growth in 2021 has reached 2.58%, State budget revenue exceeded 16.4% of the estimate, reaching over VND1,563 million billion (US$68 billion).

Referring to the tasks in 2022, the Deputy Prime Minister stated that the international and domestic situation forecast has advantages, opportunities, difficulties and challenges. However, difficulties and challenges are more.
Emphasizing that the Covid-19 pandemic can be more complicated and dangerous with the appearance of new strains, the Deputy Prime Minister said that although the ability to cope with the pandemic continues to be improved, the resilience and resources of the Government, businesses and people decrease.
“This could pose a risk of slowing down the economic recovery. There is still potential for a slowdown in growth if the pandemic cannot be controlled in a fundamental way to reopen the economy," said the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to the draft resolution of the Government on the main tasks and solutions to implement the socio-economic development plan in 2022, the Government aims to focus on effectively implementing the goal of both prevention of the Covid-19, recovery and socio-economic development.
The focus is on implementing the Covid-19 pandemic prevention, the program on socio-economic recovery and development, striving for GDP growth of 6-6.5%, GDP per capita reaching US$3,900.
