As the host of the event, Vietnam will be inviting members of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), international organizations, along with the global information and communication technology (ICT).
The annual event is expected to draw the participation of senior leaders such as ministers, heads of management agencies, and international organisations, as well as leaders of corporations, associations, and global media.
This year’s ITU Telecom World 2019 ran with the theme of “Innovating together: connectivity that matters” and took place in Budapest, Hungary, from September 9-12. During the course of the three-day period, over 5,000 delegates from more than 100 countries worldwide were in attendance.
During the event, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung emphasised the need to embrace the transformation of telecommunications and ICT, which will be the new infrastructure of the digital world. Nations should join together to reform technology, policies, and strategies to create new sets of values, he said.
Minister Hung affirmed that the nation is making great strides to shift telecommunications infrastructure into ICT infrastructure. This will be marked by the unveiling of the National Digital Transformation Strategy this year, which will make a huge impact on the Government, businesses, and wider society.
As a result, cyber security and digital principles will become fundamental requirements for digital transformation nationwide.
According to the General Statistics Office (GSO), the country’s telecoms revenue is estimated to stand at over VND184,000 billion for the first half of the year, an increase of 7.13 per cent.
