During his speech at the opening session, General Secretary Trong called on all delegates to carefully review all of the reports and to voice their feedback and ideas on the issues.
The agenda of the 10th plenum is significant to the preparations for the upcoming National Congress, the leader stressed.
All members of the Party Central Committee must display a high level of responsibility during this plenary meeting, he added.
On Wednesday, General Secretary Trong chaired a meeting of the powerful Politburo in the capital to make preparations for the 10th plenum of Vietnam’s Party Central Committee and seventh session of the law-making National Assembly, which is expected to run from May 20 to June 13.
The Party chief previously convened a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and two other high-ranking officials on Tuesday, making his first appearance since taking time off work due to health issues in April.
