"The media increasingly highlights the leadership role of women in economics, politics, and society, reflecting growing attention to their contributions beyond the family sphere," said Mai Quynh Anh.

A significant shift has been the media's role in addressing persistent gender stereotypes, particularly regarding family responsibilities. Historically, women were predominantly expected to fulfill the role of housewives. Today, however, there is a societal trend toward encouraging the equitable sharing of these responsibilities among family members. Media coverage goes beyond merely raising awareness, offering in-depth analysis of the barriers that hinder women's career progression and fostering discussions around practical solutions.

"Moreover, financial support policies—especially for small, medium, and micro enterprises owned by women—have been implemented, providing greater opportunities for women to advance their careers and strengthen their economic roles within both the family and society," Mai Quynh Anh added.

Despite significant progress, many Vietnamese women continue to encounter numerous obstacles. As Mai Quynh Anh explains, gender stereotypes still play a major role in shaping women's critical life decisions, particularly among those in their 20s and 30s. Many women feel apprehensive about marriage and parenthood, fearing they will repeat the patterns of their mothers and grandmothers. This anxiety stems from concerns about being confined by family responsibilities and losing the chance for personal growth. Addressing these issues demands not only an evolution in societal attitudes but also the implementation of supportive policies that enable women to strike a balance between family and career without compromising their autonomy.

Quynh Anh highlights the unique strength of today's youth in advancing gender equality. With their open-mindedness and thirst for knowledge, young people are unafraid to question norms and challenge entrenched social biases. They readily embrace fresh perspectives, particularly values centered on equality and justice, fostering transformative change within their communities.

“Community activities provide young people with a platform to raise their voices, share ideas, and actively reshape perceptions of gender equality. I am confident that Vietnamese youth, with their dynamism and determination, will continue to drive the gender equality movement forward. This movement will not only expand its reach but also bring about enduring, meaningful changes in society,” says Quynh Anh.

TUVA Communication is currently running the “Nha Nhieu Cot” (House of Many Pillars) campaign, a communication initiative aimed at raising awareness about gender equality. The campaign envisions a society where every individual, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, has the freedom to live, explore, and pursue their passions. As Mai Quynh Anh emphasizes, social change requires consistent and sustainable efforts, rather than being tied to specific days or campaigns.

“Discussions and communication around gender equality must take place continuously, not just on special occasions,” she notes.

In addition to the “Nha Nhieu Cot” campaign, TUVA Communication partners with various NGOs and media organizations to implement training programs, host workshops, and run public awareness initiatives. These efforts not only aim to transform societal perceptions but also empower women by providing access to career opportunities, nurturing leadership skills, and encouraging them to confidently follow their chosen paths.

When asked about her message for women on March 8, Mai Quynh Anh emphasized that the day serves not only to celebrate women but also to honor the historical fight for equality. She expressed her hope that women will receive fair treatment not just on this one day, but consistently throughout the year.

“March 8 is Women's Liberation Day, a reminder of the struggle for equal rights and freedom from gender-based discrimination. Every woman deserves equality, not just on this day but every day of the year,” she remarked. Quynh Anh underscored that gender equality is not a privilege or favor, but a fundamental requirement for creating a just society where women can thrive without being constrained by unseen barriers.

She further stressed the importance of self-belief, encouraging women to assert their values and relentlessly chase their dreams. When individuals become aware of their rights, and society provides the necessary support systems, gender equality will transition from a distant aspiration to a tangible reality—manifesting in families, organizations, and communities everywhere.
