Vietnamese mango officially available in Australia
After 7 years of negotiations, Vietnamese mango has been officially exported to Australia. This is the second Vietnamese fruit, after litchi, to be imported into the country.
On September 19th, 2016, the first batch of Vietnamese mango arrived in Australia and was sold in NP supermarket in Perth city, Western Australia, where it was advertised as “king of green mangoes”. For the first time available in Perth, Vietnamese green mango was sold at AUD14.99/kg, much higher than domestic prices. This is green mango of Cao Lanh (Dong Thap province).
Thus, after litchi, fresh mango is the second Vietnamese fruit to be exported to Australia. It is expected that, early 2017, Australia will continue to license for Vietnamese dragon fruit.
Vietnam Trade Office in Australia also expect that in the near future, after mango and dragon fruit, passion fruit, apple star, longan will be available in this potential market.
Reply to the press earlier, representatives of the Plant Protection Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) said “Consumers in Australia appreciate quality of Vietnamese mango. This is a good news to Vietnamese fruit, contributing to persify the market, affirming the prestige of Vietnamese fruit in fastidious markets.

Vietnam applied for a license to export mango to Australia in 2009, with approval given after meeting requirements on origin, packaging, pest control and disease.
