Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Receives Mayor of Phnom Penh

The Chairman of the National Assembly reaffirmed the Party and State of Vietnam's ongoing policy of prioritizing their relations with Cambodia as ones of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive collaboration, and long-term sustainability."

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh Capital, Kingdom of Cambodia, on the afternoon of September 6, at the National Assembly House.

The President of the National Assembly warmly welcomed Khuong Sreng, Member of the Central Committee of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), Mayor of Phnom Penh, who was leading the Phnom Penh High-Level Delegation to visit and work at the National Assembly in Hanoi. The visit is also extremely significant because it occurs in 2022, the Vietnam-Cambodia Friendship Year, which marks the 55th anniversary of the beginning of diplomatic ties between the two countries (24 June 1967–6 June 2022).

Numerous events are being held by the two nations to commemorate these occasions.

The National Assembly Chairman congratulated the Cambodian People's Party on its significant victory in the 5th commune/ward election in June 2022, which helped build support for the 2023 National Assembly election and reflected the party's standing and confidence in the nation's construction and development process.

The National Assembly Chairman commended Cambodia for its outstanding accomplishments in upholding political stability, security, and socio-economic development, and continuously enhancing its international standing. He also expressed his appreciation for the country's pandemic response plans. After fully reopening during the COVID-19 pandemic in Cambodia, the deployment of the vaccine produced a high rate and favorable effects.

Khuong Sreng, the governor of Phnom Penh, thanked Vuong Dinh Hue, the chairman of the National Assembly, for taking the time to meet with him and said that their working visit to Hanoi was conducted in a spirit of brotherly love. He also agreed with the chairman's assessment of the relationship between the two parties, the two states, the localities, particularly the capital cities of Hanoi and Phnom Penh, and the people of the two nations.

The bond between the two capitals of the two countries is growing, according to the governor of Phnom Penh. The agreement between the two parties on cooperation, however, has been inked for a while. As a result, the two sides are working together to update this document to reflect the current circumstances and context, which will help to solidify and grow their connection of "good neighborliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive collaboration, and long-term sustainability."

Khuong Sreng, the Governor of Phnom Penh, expressed his gratitude to the Party, the State, and the people of Vietnam for their historical support of both Cambodia and the capital city of Phnom Penh. contributing to the socioeconomic development of Cambodia in the process.

Khuong Sreng noted that Cambodia's current growth cannot be divorced from the great help from Vietnam, noting that during the most recent COVID-19 epidemic, Cambodia had received both material and mental support from Vietnam.

Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng hailed the 77th National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; complimented the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on its achievements; and expressed optimism that Vietnam will become a high-income country by 2045, as stated in the Party's 13th National Congress Resolution.

At the meeting, Governor Khuong Sreng conveyed the greetings of senior leaders of the Kingdom of Cambodia to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and senior leaders of the Party and the State of Vietnam.

Khuong Sreng thanked Khuong Sreng for sharing his positive sentiments regarding the relationships between the two nations and their respective capitals. The National Assembly Chairman reaffirmed the Party and the State of Vietnam's consistent policy of attaching great importance to the relationship with Cambodia as "good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability," always conscious that the relationship must be constantly strengthened and developed.

Expressing his delight at the results of the successful talks between Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh and Khuong Sreng, Chairman of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Assembly said that the National Assembly of Vietnam always supports and creates favorable conditions. for the two capitals to strengthen cooperation in many fields, contributing to improving the efficiency of cooperation between the two countries.

The Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam expressed his happiness at the outcomes of the productive talks between Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, and Khuong Sreng, Chairman of the National Assembly. He added that the National Assembly of Vietnam consistently supports and creates favorable conditions for the two capitals to strengthen cooperation in a variety of fields, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.

The National Assembly Chairman noted that although the volume of trade and investment between the two sides has increased quickly, there is still much potential and room for growth. He expressed the hope that the two capitals will foster an environment that will encourage greater business cooperation and investment between the two nations, particularly in the area of tourism. Every country's capital serves as a hub for connecting to other regions.

On this particular occasion, the Chairman of the National Assembly hoped that the Governor of Phnom Penh would continue to pay attention to and foster enabling environments for businesses, investors, and Vietnamese nationals to reside, study, and conduct business in Cambodia in general and Phnom Penh in particular.
