Vietnamese scientist becomes Vice President of Asia region in World Meteorological Organization

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is an intergovernmental organization with a membership of 193 Member States and Territories. It originated from the International Meteorological Organization (IMO). WMO is the specialised agency of the United Nations for meteorology (weather and climate), operational hydrology and related geophysical sciences a year later.

General Director of the Vietnam Meteorological and Hydrological Administration, Assoc.Prof. Tran Hong Thai has been appointed as Vice President of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO)’s Region II (Asia).


WMO members are pided into six regions: I (Africa), II (Asia), III (South America), IV (North America, Central America and the Caribbean), V (South-West Pacific) and VI (Europe).
