Foreign affairs work achieves comprehensive results
In Vietnam, after the success of the 13th National Party Congress taking place in January 2021, foreign affairs work achieved many comprehensive results in all channels of Party diplomacy, State, and people-to-people diplomacy.
The overarching result is strengthening a peaceful and stable environment for the country to develop sustainably as well as enhance its position and reputation in the international arena.
One of the most prominent events is the official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the end of 2022, right after the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party - a particularly important event for both countries, attracting world attention.
One month ago, US President Joe Biden paid a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and the two sides officially upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
During the half term of the 13th Party Congress, more than 170 high-level foreign affairs activities took place. There have been more than 30 visits by key leaders to countries, welcoming more than 30 high-level delegations to Vietnam, and more than 80 phone calls and online talks have been held.

To date, Vietnam had diplomatic relations with 192 countries, especially relations with important partners and neighboring countries that are increasingly developed.
Implement appropriate foreign policy in relations with major countries
Over the past three years, with the "bamboo diplomacy," Vietnam achieved extremely important results, including ensuring a peaceful and stable environment for national development.
21 cannon shots were fired at Tiananmen Square to welcome General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's official visit to China at the end of last year. This is the first visit of a foreign leader to China after the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party.

In 2015, the official visit to the United States of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong took place. For the first time in history, the President of the United States held talks with the General Secretary of a Communist Party in the Oval Office of the White House.
Eight years later, in September 2023, US President Joe Biden paid a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The talks between the two leaders took place at the Party Central Office.
The highlight of this visit is that the two sides upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership with major directions, covering all areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Besides China and the US, Vietnam also has comprehensive strategic partnerships with Russia, the RoK, and India.

Political relations between Vietnam and Russia are highly trustworthy. Since the comprehensive strategic partnership framework was established more than ten years ago, many coordination mechanisms have been established across all sectors, from diplomacy, security, and defense to economics, trade, scientific investment, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
With the RoK - a technological powerhouse in the world with multinational corporations, Vietnam established a comprehensive strategic partnership. Both are determined to promote cooperation, especially in the fields of economics and trade.
As for India, after nearly 10 years of establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership, both sides are committed to deepening the strategic partnership, especially in issues such as security and national defense, thereby contributing to maintaining peace, prosperity, and stability of the two countries, the region, and the world.
Strengthening relationships with neighboring countries
Besides skillfully handling relationships with major countries, Vietnam has also done a good job of promoting and deepening bilateral relations, and constantly foster relationships with neighboring countries and traditional friends.
Relations with neighboring countries are forged from history, tempered by harsh challenges over time and with many incidents. Therefore, it is strong, especially faithful and pure, typically the relationship between Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia.
