However, it said that tuna catch in Binh Dinh, Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa dropped nearly 17 percent in August to only 832 tonnes.

In the first eight months of this year, total tuna catch was estimated at 14,901 tonnes, up 10.6 percent year on year.

Binh Dinh took the lead with 8,508 tonnes, a rise of 18.9 percent, followed by Phu Yen 3,410 tonnes (up 6.1 percent) and Khanh Hoa 2,983 tonnes (down 2 percent).

The increase in quantity of fishery output were credited to the favourable weather conditions and localities’ support for fishermen./.
