VN students won 32 medals at World Mathematics Team Championship

The Vietnamese student team has won 32 medals including 20 gold medals, 11 silver ones and one bronze, in the seventh World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) held in Seoul, South Korea.

(VNF) - The Vietnamese student team has won 32 medals including 20 gold medals, 11 silver ones and one bronze, in the seventh World Mathematics Team Championship (WMTC) held in Seoul, South Korea.

This is the maximum number of medals a student team from Vietnam has won in its five-season participation. Last year, Vietnamese team won one gold, 15 silvers, seven bronzes and four merit medals.

Participants were selected from primary and secondary schools in Hanoi.

All nine students from Giang Vo secondary school received medals, including six golds and three silvers, Vo Doan Cong Thao, principal of the school said.

Six golds were given to students of class 9A1, namely Le Hoang Minh, Do Hai Nhat Minh, Nguyen Vinh Khanh, Tran Duc Anh, Nguyen Quang Minh, Vu Phan Thang Long.

Ten other gold medals of Vietnamese team were presented to ten students (at inpidual category) of Trung Vuong, Ngo Si Lien secondary schools, and Tran Quoc Toan, Trung Vuong, Thang Long, Trang An, Quang Trung, Tran Nhat Duat primary schools.

The other four gold medals belonged to Vietnam at teamwork category.

Particularly, Ta Son Bach from Ngo Si Lien Secondary School was named the Champion in the Secondary student category.

The WMTC has been held annually since 2010. Beijing hosted the first six editions, but this year, it was held in Seoul, South Korea, from November 23rd to 27th. Around 600 students from 32 teams representing 24 countries and territories took part in the contest./.
