The information was released in a press conference co-chaired by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son and WEF President, Borge Brende on June 27.

With the theme, “ASEAN 4.0: Entrepreneurship and the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, the event will feature entrepreneurship and the fourth industrial revolution, meeting the common interest of ASEAN countries and other nations in the region, while being aligned with ASEAN’s theme for 2018, “Towards a Resilient and Innovative ASEAN Community”.

The event will touch upon strategic issues of national and regional significance under three thematic pillars – Entrepreneurship to craft new approaches to regional and global governance; Entrepreneurship to drive economic and business dynamism; and Entrepreneurship to shape social inclusion.

On the sidelines of the event, the Vietnam Business Forum will take place on September 13 with the participation of regional Government leaders and business representatives of the WEF and Vietnam.

WEF ASEAN 2018 is expected to draw the participation of 800 delegates, including leaders of ASEAN and regional nations, representatives of international organisations, policymakers, experts, scholars, and business leaders in the region and the world.

According to Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bui Thanh Son, who is also Head of the Organizing committee, WEF ASEAN 2018 will offer a platform for government leaders and businesses to discuss and share visions, ideas, and policy orientations for the region’s big issues.

The diplomat noted that This year’s theme deals with the common concerns of ASEAN member states and other countries in the region and is closely connected to the ASEAN theme for 2018 “Resilient and Innovative,” he noted.

Speaking at the press conference, President Borge Brende hailed the professional way Vietnam has been working to prepare for WEF ASEAN 2018.

Furthermore, he highly valued the partnership relations between the WEF and Vietnam.

Last year, Vietnam and the WEF inked a partnership agreement under which the latter supports the former through the next stage of development as the fourth industrial revolution unfolds.

He also said the WEF expects to boost cooperation with ASEAN in coping with challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution./.
