The 15^th Bac Lieu provincial Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure opened on October 28^th with the presence of Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member.

Addressing the Congress, Le Thanh Hai praised the provincial Party Committee and people for overcoming difficulties to make breakthrough developments over the past 5 years, bringing stable development to the province with an average economic growth rate of 12% per year and a poverty reduction down to the current 3%.

However, he asked the members to focus on boosting socio-economic development in coastal communes; promoting internal strength and taking advantage of outside assistance for the province’s socio-economic development.

According to Mr. Hai, Bac Lieu province should also promote its potential in agricultural and fisheries production, especially towards making fisheries sector the spearhead economic industry of the province.

The province should also build up a modern and high quality agricultural production in order to raise farmers’ standard of living and make the production sustainable and stable, he added.

Regarding Party building work, he stressed that the new-term Party Executive Committee should continue to better realize the resolution on party building from the 4^th Party Central Committee meeting (term XI) on Party building; ensure solidarity and political stability; and pay attention to increasing the number of Party members among female, ethnic minorities and young cadres.

The 15^th Bac Lieu provincial Party Congress was held in order to both give a unbiased and honest assessment to the implementation of the 14^th Party Congress resolution and work out the orientations, targets and missions for the next term.

The Congress will last until October 30^th./.
