7th Golden Lotus Bulb Award concluded
(VNF) - The 7th Golden Lotus Bulb Award, themed “Children of Heaven” wrapped up on August 21st in Hanoi.
This year’s Youth Favoring Awards went to directors Nguyen Thi Thanh Dao and Nguyen Ngoc Thao Ly, with the feature film “Chanh dao” (Lemon with rosy pulp) in the best first work category and documentary “Rito Rito” for the work of the most audience votes, respectively.
The organizing panel also presented “Golden Lotus Bulb” awards of the jury’s votes to “XX2061” by director Pham Thu Thuy in the best film category and “Khi song vo bo” (When the waves pounding the shore) by director Nguyen Xuan Hoang Minh in the best documentary category.
The best teen movie went to film “Nguoi bao ve” (The Protector) directed by a group of secondary students.
The ending of awarding night
Documentary “Rito Rito” which is about a young girl turns to Cosplay (a performance art where you dress up as a character, typically from...anime, video game, movie, book, TV show…) to hide her grief and pressures, deeply moved the audiences and judges.
Young filmmakers Nguyen Xuan Hoang Minh’s film “Khi song vo bo” tells the story of a man who returns his home after working for a long time abroad. The man feels lonely and cannot reintegrate into his family and society. He decides to leave.
The award-winning feature film XX2061 by filmmaker Pham Thu Thuy tells a story set in the future, when every family has robots and depends on them, leading to trouble.
In 2016, 10 feature films and 10 documentaries among 110 works were selected to compete at the final. Three best films in each category will be screened in the awarding night when “Golden Lotus Bulb” awards will officially be presented to the best documentary, best feature film categories, voted by the jury and audiences.
The annual Golden Lotus Bulb Award is held for the young filmmaker community “We are making films” of the Center for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents (CADMV).
WAFM is a long-term programme aims to honor best moviemakers in the documentary and short-story categories and to raise young people’s aesthetics and awareness of cinematic arts as well as to create a playground for them to exchange experience and encourage them to become involved in filmmaking. It was launched in 2009 by the Hanoi-based TPD.
