Abyei Warmly Welcomes Vietnam's Engineering Unit Rotation 2
Immediately after arriving in Abyei, the Commanding Board of the Engineering Unit Rotation No. 2 of Vietnam organized a delegation led by Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung, to pay a courtesy visit to Brigadier General Abu Syed Mohammod Bakir, Deputy Force Commander of the UN Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA).
Vietnam's Military Engineering Unit Rotation 2 arrived in the UN peacekeeping mission on August 12, the People’s Army Newspaper reported.
The Engineering Unit Rotation 2, made up of 203 officers, including 19 females, was established in November 2022 under a decision of the Ministry of Defence.

At the meeting, the UNISFA Deputy Force Commander welcomed the team to Abyei, appreciating the results of the 1st Engineer Team during their working time in Abyei.
He hoped that the Engineering Unit Rotation No. 2 would continue to perform well in their duties during their working term.
Colonel Nguyen Viet Hung shared that the team is grateful for the warm welcome as well as the enthusiastic support of the Mission Commander for the Vietnam Peacekeeping Engineers Team.
Although there are still many difficulties and a large amount of work, all officers and employees of the team will try and do their best to perform well all the tasks entrusted to the team by the Force Commander.

Also in the series of activities to pay courtesy visits to units and local authorities in the region, on August 21, the delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area, Chol Deng Alak.
Here, the delegation was greeted by Chol Deng Alak, and shared memorable memories about the country and people of Vietnam.
On this occasion, the delegation presented the Chief Administrator with a clock with the Dong Son bronze drum symbol and a map of Vietnam.
The Commanding Board of the Engineering Unit Rotation No. 2 hopes that in the coming time, Vietnamese green beret soldiers will continue to make good impressions, embellishing the image of Uncle Ho's army in the hearts of the government and people. here.

Earlier, the Commanding Board of the Engineering Unit Rotation No 2 on August 24 had a visit and working session with the Field Support Department. UNISFA Chief of Mission Support Robert Kirkwood, welcomed the team, highlighting the key tasks of the Vietnam Engineering Unit in the near future.
The Commanding Board of the Engineering Unit thanked the department for sharing valuable experiences to be able to perform well the tasks of the team during the working term.
Previously, the delegation visited the Abyei Mayor; the paramount chief ruled over the tribes, the spiritual leader at Abyei, and others UNISFA units.
Vietnam’s Military Engineering Unit Rotation 1 has successfully accomplished its peacekeeping tasks at the UNISFA and came back to Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on August 15 morning.
In 2022, Engineering Unit Rotation 1 was deployed to the UN mission in Abyei, the first time Vietnam had sent an engineering team to a UN peacekeeping mission. It also had the biggest number of staff members among the Vietnamese units sent to UN peacekeeping missions. All of its supplies, about 2,000 tonnes, were transported by sea.
Within 15 months in Abyei, the force built and upgraded nearly 70 kilometres of roads, opened 15 new patrol routes with a total length of 303 kilometres, built an airfield in Diffa, and engaged in humanitarian activities there.
