The Association's activities cover many areas such as exchanges, seminars, delegation exchanges, organizing events on major holidays, cultural and artistic programs, granting scholarships, volunteer activities, etc., creating a widespread network of connections, connecting the people of the two countries.

In Vietnam, the Association maintains close relations with the German Embassy, Consulate General and research institutes. In Germany, the Association builds sustainable cooperative relations with traditional partners: the People's Friendship Association of the Federal Republic of Germany with the Vietnamese people and the German-Vietnamese Association. Activities of welcoming and supporting the German delegation to visit Vietnam, exchanging information, sending letters of greetings, and sharing experiences are maintained regularly.

Nguyen Toan Thang said that in the coming time, the Association will continue to innovate the content and methods of operation in a practical, effective manner, suitable to the new context. The Association aims to strengthen the connection between the Central and local associations, perfect the organizational structure, supplement the team of capable and dedicated staff, and at the same time expand cooperative relations with partners in Vietnam and Germany. The Association hopes to continue to receive active coordination and support from agencies, organizations, and friends of the two countries to contribute to strongly promoting people-to-people diplomacy activities.

Recognizing the Association’s significant contributions, Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, affirmed that the Vietnam - Germany Friendship Association has played a vital role in fostering cultural, educational, scientific, and technological exchanges between the two nations. Additionally, it has strengthened connections between the Vietnamese community in Germany and their homeland while serving as an effective information channel, helping German friends gain deeper insights into Vietnam’s people, culture, and foreign policy. These efforts have contributed to enhancing Vietnam’s standing in the international arena.

As the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Germany continues to expand, Hung emphasized the growing importance of people-to-people exchanges in building trust, deepening understanding, and fostering comprehensive cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted that despite the rapid transformations brought by globalization, digital innovation, and the green transition, there remains significant potential for further collaboration in emerging areas such as innovation, startups, youth initiatives, climate change response, and sustainable development.

She stated that the fundamental and long-term factor of the bilateral relationship is the connection between the people. Every year, more than 200,000 German tourists come to Vietnam. The Vietnamese community in Germany with about 200,000 people is the "bridge" connecting the two cultures.

Barth appreciated the increasing interest of Vietnamese youth in the German language and opportunities to study and work in Germany. The Ambassador affirmed that in promoting people-to-people exchange, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations plays a pivotal role, and expressed her hope that the Association will continue to be the focal point connecting Vietnamese people who love Germany and promoting substantive and effective people-to-people relations.

On this occasion, the Vietnam - Germany Friendship Association announced the establishment of two new branches: the Association of Vietnamese Students in Germany and the German Language Club at the Diplomatic Academy.

Representing the German Language Club, student Nguyen Thi Linh Nga from the Diplomatic Academy shared that participating in exchange programs and thematic activities not only helps students enhance their German language skills but also provides deeper exposure to German culture, music, and daily life.

Linh Nga expressed confidence that the Association will infuse youthful energy and creativity by expanding its digital presence, developing fan pages, and increasing engagement on digital platforms, thereby bringing its image closer to young people in Vietnam and abroad. She also hopes the Association will continue to strengthen partnerships with universities specializing in foreign languages, such as Hanoi University, Foreign Trade University, and the University of Foreign Languages (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), to encourage greater student participation and involvement.
