An Giang Exported First Batch of Flat-seeded Mangoes to Republic of Korea

At the event, An Giang's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also announced that it has signed a partnership in mango production and consumption following value chain orientation.
In her remark, Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of An Giang said that with high economic value, mango is An Giang's key tree. The province is strongly oriented toward transformation, which has positively contributed to its agricultural growth.
To date, the mango growing area in An Giang covers over 12,600 hectares, growing more than 225,000 tons of fruits/ year. Cho Moi district is home to 6,400 hectares of mango growing area, the largest in the province. Thanks to the application of scientific and technical advances in production, so far, the mango growing areas that meet VietGAP standards in Cho Moi have reached 704 hectares. The province's fruit has been exported to China, the USA, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Australia.
Cho Moi's success in exporting mangoes to these markets resulted from the great effort of the local authorities, businesses, and people of Cho Moi district during more than 10 years of negotiations, said Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy.
According to Nguyen Minh Hien, Director of GAP Cu Lao Gieng Cooperative (Cho Moi district), the cooperative has signed contracts with over 100 official and affiliated members on materials supply and product consumption. Their activities cover 70 hectares of mango growing area, with an estimated harvest of over 1,700 tons.
"I hope that all members of the cooperative will be bolder in applying scientific and technical advances so that we have more high-quality products to offer to demanding markets," Hien said.
