Anti-State facebooker receives 12 months in jail
The People’s Court in Ninh Kieu district of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho has sentenced Pham Xuan Hao to 12 months in jail for “abusing democratic freedom to infringe upon the interests of the State, lawful rights and interests of organizations and/or citizens” under Clause 1, Article 331 of the Criminal Code 2015.

Hao, born in 1965 in Soc Trang province, and residing in An Hoi ward of Ninh Kieu district, has post-graduate diploma and worked as a lecturer at the Technology Faculty of the Can Tho University before he was brought to the court.
According to the verdict, Hao used his Facebook account to share articles with negative contents causing bad impact on the public awareness, while posting distorted information on the orientations and policies of the Party and State, and infringing people’s interest.
In June this year, the People’s Court of Ninh Kieu district also gave Quach Nguyen Anh Khoa six months of imprisonment for the same charge./.
