The province has about 6,000 fishing boats with tens of thousands of fishermen regularly working at sea. Besides a large number of hard working fishermen, there are some young people, who easily fall into the dark trap of using drugs.
In the past, the provincial authorities have taken many measures to communicate the message on preventing the use of drugs at fishing ports.
Apart from delivering leaflets, the authorities also go to each fishing boat to deliver the information about the harmful affects of drug abuse, how to recognize the drugs, basic signs of a person using drugs and about the laws and policies of the Party and state on drug users.
The authorities have also strengthened their efforts on the prevention of drug-related crimes at fishing ports and nearby villages. Since early 2015, the authorities have arrested and dealt with 18 drug-related cases and seized 7g of heroin, 21g of ecstasy, 20 sets of tools to use drugs, a precision scale, nine mobile phones, seven motorbikes and VND21 million./.
