Excellently defeating the world's 4th-ranked player, Kim Jun Tae from South Korea, in a dramatic final, Tran Duc Minh won the championship for the first time at the Ho Chi Minh City World Cup Three-Cushion 2024, which concluded on the evening of May 26.
The final was dramatic and thrilling due to Minh's outstanding performance. He got off to a good start, taking early leads of 9/0 and 15/2, and by the 17th round, the difference had grown to 41/20.

What seemed to be an easy victory for the Vietnamese player became surprisingly dramatic when Kim Jun Tae created a surprise comeback. In just four rounds, the South Korean player scored 26 points with a series of 4, 7, 12, and 3 scores, passing Tran Duc Minh and leading 46/45.
Tran Duc Minh found himself in a difficult situation despite his advantaged position. However, he remained composed under pressure and performed excellently in the final two turns. He scored 5 points in a thrilling 50-46 triumph, winning the World Cup for the first time in his career and receiving a prize of 16,000 euros.

With this triumph, Tran Duc Minh became the second Vietnamese player to win a World Cup, after Tran Quyet Chien. His extraordinary rise in the global rankings was announced on the evening of May 26, when he moved from 415th to 37th place with 80 points.
