Vietnamese Player Won Billards World Cup For Second Time
These are two players who played very well in the previous semifinal, while player Tran Quyet Chien easily overcame his junior Chiem Hong Thai with a score of 50-26, and Sameh Sidhom also easily defeated Jeremy Bury (11th in the world) with a 50-20. In this reunion, Sidhom quickly started with a 5-point series. However, the Vietnamese player with his bravery launched a series of 8 points to overcome the opponent. As the match progressed, the Vietnamese players played very firmly and after 18 turns the score was 30-14 for Tran Quyet Chien.

Although the opponent tried very hard to turn the score around, Tran Quyet Chien’s score still increased. In the 27th turn, Tran Quyet Chien scored 2 points to win the championship of the 3rd billiards at Porto World Cup 2023 when he defeated Sidhom.
With this victory, Tran Quyet Chien won the World Cup for the second time after the championship in Ho Chi Minh City in 2018 when he defeated Ngo Dinh Nai in the final. He is also the only person in the history of Vietnamese 3-band billiards to succeed at World Cup tournaments.

This is also considered one of the most successful billiards tournaments in Vietnam when young players climbed to the top. In addition to the championship of Tran Quyet Chien, Vietnamese billiards also has a bronze medal of Chiem Hong Thai. Two other players, Bao Phuong Vinh, and Tran Thanh Luc, also entered the round of 16.
