Books of Belarusian printer presented to VN National Library
(VNF) - The Belarus Embassy in Vietnam granted a collection of 21 volumes of books with a facsimile reproduction of the book heritage of Francysk Skaryna to the National Library of Vietnam on December 19th morning.

The ceremony was attended by Ambassador of Belarus to Vietnam, Vladimir Goshin, Director of the National Library of Vietnam, Kieu Thuy Nga, diplomats of the Belarusian mission, heads of foreign missions accredited in Vietnam, Deputy Chairman of the Friendship Society “Vietnam – Belarus”, Vu Xuan Ninh as well as the representatives of Vietnamese mass media, including print media.
Ambassador of Belarus, Vladimir Goshin, in his speech, stressed out the importance of further development and deepening of bilateral cooperation in the field of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, which directly contribute to strengthening warm, friendly relations between Belarus and Vietnam and spiritual mutual enrichment of the nations of the two countries.
This year marked the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Belarus and Vietnam.

In May, the Days of Culture of Belarus were held in the capital city of Hanoi and the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai. The preparation for the Days of Culture of Vietnam in Belarus, which will be held in June 2018, have also begun, according to the Ambassador.
Director of the Vietnam National Library, Kieu Thuy Nga expressed her gratitude to the Belarusian Side for associating Vietnam with such a large-scale and unique event dedicated to the 500th Anniversary of Belarusian printing.
“The unique collection of books will be important part of our collection of foreign materials preserved in the library,” she said.

Francysk Skaryna was an outstanding Belarusian public figure, printer, philosopher humanist, writer and medical scientist.
The most significant side of the ceremony of donating the books lies in the fact that 21 volumes of books with a facsimile reproduction of the book heritage of Francysk Skaryna are nowadays the first and the only edition in Belarusian language that will be stored in the Vietnam’s National Library. The ceremony also took place in the year of the 100th Anniversary of the Vietnam National Library./.
