Boris Johnson elected as new UK’s Prime Minister
Boris Johnson, the former British foreign secretary was set as the new UK’s Prime Minister on Wednesday, taking step of Theresa May, after winning the Conservative Party leadership election.

After the result’s announcement, he said in his speech “Today, at this pivotal moment in our history, we again have to reconcile two noble sets of instincts – between the deep desire for friendship and free trade and mutual support and security and defense between Britain and our European partners; and the simultaneous desire, equally heartfelt, for democratic self-government in this country.”
He also asserted to “get Brexit done by October 31” with a “new spirit can do”
“We are once again going to believe in ourselves and what we can achieve, and like some slumbering giant we are going to rise and ping off the guy-ropes of self-doubt and negativity.”
Reacting to the Johnson’s victory, US President Donald Trump praised in the Twitter “Congratulation to Boris Johnson on becoming the new Prime Minister. He will be great!”
In spite of recently tension between the UK and Iran, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif sent his congratulation to Johnson while giving the message that “Iran does not seek confrontation. But we have 1,500 miles of Persian Gulf coastline. These are our waters and we will protect them."
Ursula von der Leyen, the newly appointed European Commission said “There are many difficult issues we will tackle together. It is important to build up a strong working relationship because we have a duty to deliver something which is good for the people in Europe and the United Kingdom” on the day Boris Johnson announced his victory.
